A Big Commitment Yields Big Results Button
The Program

Summit 54 is an extremely rigorous program, requiring 1600 hours of comprehensive academic and life skill modules over four years, in addition to a student’s regular assigned schoolwork. Each eighth grader entering Summit 54 is required to execute a contract to commit the hours and effort required to succeed. This intense level of commitment is also extended to the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the student. Summit 54 believes a contract with these adults is necessary to ensure the support of the student while he or she is in the home. This support is pledged through parental or guardian oversight, transportation and an understanding that Summit 54 commitments will supersede other nonessential activities.

Mentors, Sponsors, and Counselors

Each Summit 54 student is assigned at least two mentors who provide support, oversight, evaluation, and encouragement. Staff counselors are also made available to assist with social and familial issues to sustain the stable foundation required to succeed in high school. After completing two years of the Summit 54 program, each student will be coupled with a sponsor. The sponsor will provide partial financial support for academic costs, and fulfill a supportive role equivalent to that which a parent provides in an affluent suburban environment.

A 54-Step Plan to College

Today’s most effective and successful young adults are not only intellectually competent, but show excellent social and emotional intelligence as well. The balanced focus on these areas of development is a key differentiator of the Summit 54 curriculum. The program is developed around the philosophy of whole person integration – inspiring the heart and challenging the intellect. The result will be highly functional, well-rounded young adults who have the knowledge and foundational skills necessary to succeed in college, the workplace, and their personal lives.
